Location

Hardly any other biotechnology centre in Germany can provide as much atmosphere as the BioInnovationsZentrum, at the heart of Dresden, the baroque city of culture. Its unique combination of high tech and baroque, of culture and science, creates a mood of excited anticipation which draws everybody in. It is not without good reason that Volkswagen, AMD and GlaxoSmithKline already chose Dresden as a location years ago. The Founders' Association for German Science (Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft) also recognised the unique importance of science in the city on the Elbe, naming Dresden "City of Science 2006".

The people of Dresden support science to an unusual extent: around 75% of people from Dresden consider the University of Technology to be a very important institution in the city. (In a comparable city such as Hanover, with a university of a similar size, in contrast, only 45% think this).

As well as this openness to science and innovation, however, the city has a great deal more to offer; indeed, each aspect in itself is a good reason to come to Dresden:

  • Living in green surroundings in marvellous villas at reasonable prices
  • Excursion and leisure opportunities to suit every taste
  • Wide range of cultural activities
  • One-of-a-kind pub culture
